Sales Rep for Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois

Inside Sales rep is Sam Roberto

I have been in the wonderful world of horticulture since I was just 15 years old. My first job was sterilizing soil and filling bedding plant flats in preparation for spring planting. I can still smell the hot soil! From there I working in tree nurseries- pruning, planting, digging those big b&b shade trees. I know that is where my back problems started!! Then onto landscaping, retail sales, purchasing, sales management, and then my love of being a territory sales rep, building strong personal relationships with my customers, helping them solve problems, and bring them the best plant material so we both can be successful. I am bless to have my beautiful wife Gayle and best friend by my side for the last 29 years. We have raise three beautiful daughters who are making their way in the world with great success. We also are enjoying being Papa and Gaia to our granddaughter and grandson, so much fun. I do enjoy gardening, hunting, fishing, and camping in the great state of Michigan!

I came to work for Prides in March of 2019. My goal and Mark's was to bring Prides great selection of quality plants and plant brands to the IGC's, Landscapers, and rewholesalers of great lakes region, that was currently not available to them. So far we are making progress. The whole team at Prides makes that job pretty easy for me.

My Favorite Plant:

Heptacodium miconioides Seven-Son Flower " Temple Of Bloom" from Proven Winners I thinks it is one of the most underused plants in our industry and should be on every garden center or rewholesalers yard. It provides year around interest with it's fragrant flowers, dark red sepals that give it that extra show in the fall, and of course it beautiful exfoliating/peeling bark.

Education:

I am a proud graduate of Michigan State University- Go Green!! my degree is in Commercial Horticultural with specializing in greenhouse crop production. i.e Pot mums, poinsettias, Easter lilies all the oldie but goodies. Yeah I have been around a while
