A hardy evergreen valued for its soft, fragrant, dark green needles with silvery undersides and classic pyramidal form. Known for excellent needle retention and adaptability, it makes a beautiful specimen tree and is also prized as a premium Christmas tree.
Plant in full sun to light shade in cool, moist, well-drained soil. Keep evenly watered, especially in hot or dry conditions, as firs prefer consistent moisture. Mulching helps conserve soil moisture and protect roots. Minimal pruning is needed. Only remove dead or damaged branches. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to encourage healthy growth.
