Chokeberry is an ornamental tree that is both colorful and hardy. Each green leaf transitions into a deep purple; and, its small white flowers are followed by equally small black fruit that brings in wildlife. Berries have a firm, chewy texture with a sour juice; usually paired with sweet berries to make an appetizing jams, pies, wines, and juices. It's arching crown provides a canopy of shade which makes it commonly found in open spaces, wildlife gardens, and cities.
