Populus tremula 'Erecta' is an elegant, fast-growing tree that brings instant vertical drama to any landscape. With its very narrow, upright, columnar form it reaches about 40 feet tall but only ~8-10 feet wide, making it ideal where space is limited or you want height without bulk. The leaves are classic aspen: round, coarsely toothed, that flutter in slightest breeze for that shimmering, living texture. In fall the foliage shifts to glowing golds, oranges, and reds, giving a flashy autumn display.

• | Moist, Well-Drained |
Plant in full sun (or mostly full sun) with well-drained soil. It tolerates a range of soil types so long as drainage is good. Keep soil moderately moist, especially while it’s establishing; once mature it shows some drought tolerance. Regular moisture helps maintain foliage quality and autumn color. Prune lightly only to tidy up shape or remove any damaged branches; avoid heavy pruning. It performs best in cooler climates and may struggle in extreme heat, humidity, or polluted urban air.
