'Father of the Bride' features large, 2–2½" fully double yellow flowers accented by a striking burgundy eye at the center. Unique among double-flowering hellebores, its blooms are predominantly side-facing, creating an especially charming display. Blooming for six weeks or more from late winter into spring, it is an excellent choice for naturalizing in moist woodland settings.
Hellebores are low-maintenance, adaptable perennials that thrive in a variety of growing conditions with few pest or disease concerns. They prefer rich, moist, organic soil but can also tolerate sandy or clay soils, short periods of drought, and a range of soil pH. Best grown in shade with protection from hot afternoon sun, they can thrive beneath deciduous trees where they receive winter and early spring sunlight before the canopy fills in. Trim back old foliage in spring, and mulch heavily in fall to encourage new seedlings
