Growing & Maintenance Tips for Clematis paniculata

Plant in a rich, porous, alkaline soil and allow plenty of room for the roots to spread. Performs best when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous layer of mulch near the base of the vine. Cut back in early spring to just above the base of last year's stems.
