An interesting and unique evergreen tree with thick scaled branches. Sharpened leaves are radially arranged around the branches and after a number of years cones will appear at the tip of the branches. Female cones produce an edible nut like seed. Easy to grow this is a plant collectors dream! Branches form wholes around the trunk creating a puzzling design. Also called the Chilian pine, it is the national tree of Chile and is endangered and protected.
