Incredibly easy to grow, 'Autumn Flame' is an outstanding looking tree with a clean summer look and blazing fall foliage color that make it a plant that should be used even more. This is one of the earliest flowering of all our native maples with its small, deep red flowers opening in early to mid-April providing one of the earliest nectar sources for native bees and butterflies. Medium green, trident shaped leaves form a thick but not impenetrable head that provides great shelter and nesting area for a wide variety of birds. There is not a more spectacular foliage show in the fall than 'Autumn Flame' with its early to mid-Autumn explosion of fiery crimson color. This American Beauties signature tree tolerates moisture and even wet feet while performing famously in the landscape.
