Long pale pink spikes bloom in late summer and are sweetly scented - some say like honey others like grapes. Finely cut fern-like foliage is dark purple and makes an excellent backdrop for other shade-loving perennials.

Best growth occurs in a moist, shady location with rich, acidic soil. Excellent naturalized plant - requires little maintenance. May require staking. Divisions may be made in the spring.
