Scarletta is a more compact and slower growing that other Leucothoe. Bred to combine winter hardiness of the species with dwarf growth habit, all while improving the foliage coloration. In the spring, new growth is a bright scarlet color that emerges from a mound of deep, green foliage. In the fall, the burgundy red color persists through the winter as a bronze to purplish red to create a year-round interest. Use in wooded areas as a ground cover or along steep banks.
