Deep green, fine textured foliage forms a dense rounded mound that comes alive in mid-summer with a profusion of pea-like, violet-purple flowers that continue into early fall. This considerable flower show is made more impressive by the fact that few other shrubs are blooming at the time and by the neat, nearly formal nature of this plant. Plant it in sunny areas and, given its dense form, feel free to mass it to create a late, great show of color.
