Although I have many hobbies and a variety of work and educational experiences, I’ve been involved with plants for most of my life.  I grew my first garden when I was 10 years old and when I was a teenager I worked with my dad maintaining indoor tropical plants.  Over the years I worked seasonally for various landscape companies and as a seasonal naturalist for state parks until I earned my Master Gardener certificate in 2010.  The UConn Master Gardener program really helped me to acquire a wealth horticultural knowledge and I am very grateful for that experience.  It was a springboard to starting my own independently owned business in which I offered garden maintenance and small scale design services.  After working alone for several years I decided I wanted to work alongside other professionals and began working as a horticulturalist for a daylily breeder and seller.  It was a fantastic learning experience on many levels, but eventually, I wanted to transition to a broader palette of plants beyond just daylilies.  After signing up for a Naugatuck Valley Woody Ornamental course in the fall of 2019 I was serendipitously hired by Prides Corner to work in their fast-paced sales department.  I am so happy to be a part of this wonderful team of people and look forward to helping our customers get just the right plants for their projects.

My Favorite Plant:

Honestly I do not have a favorite plant because there are just so many that I love! Most often what really catches my eye is a good combination of plants. The holistic effect of a good design is so inspiring! Also, although they are often overlooked and underappreciated, I like evergreen trees because they look so majestic in the winter. And the smell of pine and balsam especially calms and soothes the spirit.
